Set in 16th century Venice during the masked Carnevale di Venezia, the tale of Inquest is built around the brothel and guest house named The Guilded Lily. The owner of the Lily, Mistress Alina, has her own reasons to hate the surge of the Inquisition but none are stronger than the hatred she has built up for the man who started it all.
For the sake of many who face the courts, she has sent a silent warning across the countryside, inviting all witches, sidhe or others who have reason to fear being put on trial. The Lily has become a refuge for all who fear death at the hands of witch-hunters.
