Maybe it was the fact that it was quiet, maybe it was the fact that it was secluded. Whatever the real reason was, something brought Lucy back to the little campsite. Though she was only fifteen, she was a very good driver. So, she took Macy's car and drove up here. Responsible? Not really, but oh well.
[it's short, sorry.]

keith was driving home from work in his seriously, beat up car that had to have been made before he was born. the car was unreliable and a death trap really. it wasn't fit to run and it broke down constantly. today was one of those break down days.
the old thing broke down on the side of the road by cherry flats. how wonderful, keith couldn't help but think. it had to break down in a place that was full of horny teenagers either making out or having sex at this very moment. keith shuddered at the thought.
he got out of the car, cutting the engine, and popped open the hood. he took one quick look and shut it. who was he kidding? he didn't know anything about cars and he didn't have a cellphone to call for help since he couldn't pay the bill this month and even if he did, he doubt he could afford to tow it.
furstrated, keith sat on the hood of his car. he stared down at his classic chucks and picked at a ragged hole in the knee of his favorite tight blue jeans. he'd have to walk he guessed, since there was no way he'd hitch a ride with someone from this place.

Lucy raised an eyebrow, watching the boy sit down on the hood of his car. She glanced at Macy's car, and then back at the stranger and gave a shrug, walking over to him. "Havin' trouble?" She asked, tilting her head a bit, hoping he wouldn't snap at her.

keith had been off in his own little world, humming a song to himself. he hadn't notice the young girl approach him and when she spoke her voice gave him quite a scare and he screamed, almost falling off the car hood.
once he calmed himself down, he acknowleged her question, a little shyly of course. "no, i just sit on my hood for fun." he joked with her, flashing her a friendly smile. keith was rarely mean, so he hoped she wouldn't have taken that the wrong way.
he stood up and brushed off the dirt on his jeans and stood beside her, looking at his car. "yeah, i am. it's a piece of crap." he commented, though she could most surely see. "i don't have a cell and i cant afford to tow it, so im stuck walking it home." he explained with a sigh.
"so, i'm keith." he told her.

Lucy couldn't help but laugh, with him falling off the car and all. "Sorry," She muttered, biting her lipm something she did to shut herself up. "Well. What can I say? Sometimes you just have to sit on the hood of your car to get it to work," She gave a gentle shrug. "I can give you ride," She said, jerking her head towards the car, "I can get someone to tow it back for you," She smiled at him, "I'm Lucy,"

a light pink color found their way into keith's cheeks, he looked down to hide his embarrassment from her laughter. keith was incrediably clumsy. he was surprised that he passed p.e. for the last three years. the teacher never even let him play due to the fact that keith was so uncoordinated to the point that it was dangerous.
he cracked a small smile at her comment, liking her good sense of humor. "guess so, unfortunately, my car is being stubborn, so me sitting on the hood doesn't do much to get it going back again. it hates me, i swear. i should have known this car hated me from the beginning, especially since not even an hour after i bought it i got into a car crash." he told her, shaking his head, remembering the day.
keith gasped, faking surprise when she offered a ride. "didn't your mom ever tell you not to offer rides to strangers?" keith asked her, joking. sure she didn't know him, but keith was a nice guy and if the situation had been reversed, he would have offered her a ride also. "well thanks." he said. "and i didn't even have to offer you any candy." he teased once more. when she said he'd get someone to tow it, he shook his head.
"nah, why bother? i don't have the cash to pay for it. if im feeling up to it tomorrow i might just grab a couple of my bandmates and make them push the car all the way back to my apartment. or...or...i might just leave it on the side of the road for decortation. makes the place look a lot nicer don't you think?" he asked and stood back a few inches to admire it, almost getting hit with a car in the process, but managed to move quickly when he heard a honk.
"shit!" he yelped out, running back over to where lucy was and latching himself onto her as if she was a safety shield. he realized the sudden clutching of her arm and let go, embarrassed once more. "sorry about that." he told her quietly, in an almost whisper. "today isn't my lucky day. almost got fired from work, my car broke down, and now i almost get run over. this has been like, my official worst day ever. if not, it at least makes the top ten."

"You seriously got in a crash right after you bought it?" Lucy asked, crossing her arms along her chest, raising her eyebrow at the perfect angle to look curious.
"Well," Lucy said, trying to sound smart, uncrossing her arms and placing them on her hips, "My mom said not to offer rides to strangers who look over thirty and who have a really weird look in their eye," She nodded, "You don't have a perverted look in your eyes and you don't look thirty," She tilted her head a bit, "Unless you're a very youthful thirty year old, but that's beyond the point,"
"If you say so," Lucy shrugged to his statement about towing it back, "And I think it does look pretty nice up here. Just don't be shocked when you find eggs all over your windshield," She rolled her shoulders once more, "People tend to do that to broken down cars. And just cars that are parked. Hell, they do it to all cars,"
Lucy raised an eyebrow as he latched himself on to her, she didn't get mad, but she was a little shocked from it, "I think you're a bad luck charm or something. I swear," She said, laughing and shaking her head.

keith nodded, dead serious. "seriously." he responded, in a stoner voice. he smiled at her playfully. "but!" he started and held up a finger. "keep in mind that it was not my fault. here i am driving peacefully in my car and then BAM!" he said loudly, clapping his hands in her face for effect. "i'm hit. now, he claims i was speeding through a red light and it was his turn to go, but..." he shrugged, looking innocent. "who knows?"
he grinned, watching her place her hands on her hips. girls often did that he noticed, when they were trying to prove a point or extremely angry and it was a sign for any male to find a safe hiding spot. he laughed a little. "hmm, well, can't argue with your mom there." he commented as he scooted back to the hood of his car and sat on top of it once more, his eyes still on her. "it just so happens though that i have a glass eye and i got plastic surgery last week." he joked, although looking dead serious. he cracked a grin. "just kidding, im only eighteen."
"i do say so." he told her with a nod. "respect your elders and their wishes." he joked. keith didn't even know how old lucy was, but she did look younger than he did. he frowned when she told him what would happen if he left it here. he ran his hand gently over the hood of his car sentimentally, his face formed into a sad one. keith was attached to his car, even though it was an unreliable peice of shit. he sighed. "alright, you won me over, i'll call my friends in a few hours to come push home my car." he said and grinned. he was serious when he told her he couldn't afford to have it towed.
his handsome face formed into an adorable pout as she laughed at him, faking saddness to gain some sympathy. keith crossed his arms over his chest and looked down at the gravel on the street, watching as he allowed his sneaker to kick a few small rocks into traffic. "i'm not a bad luck charm..." he said softly, although he knew she was kind of right. keith looked back up at her and sighed. "so if im bad luck, what are you then? a lucky chinese cricket?" he teased, perking up. "you want to give some of your luck to me?"

Lucy jumped a little as he clapped in her face, but she grinned. "I'm not so sure I can believe anything you say," Her expression grew serious but her dark eyes hinted amusement, "You seem a little sneaky. You probably did run the red light," She moved her hair from her eyes as she awaited his retort to that one.
"That's frightening," Lucy laughed, studying his face harder. "Aha!" She said, a grin on her pretty face, "I see a scar on your cheek from where they cut you open," There was, of course, no scar, but Lucy was just playing around with him. She gave a shrug, figuring if he told her his age, she might as well tell him her age, "I'm sixteen,"
"You're not going to tell me that you're going to marry your car," She tilted her head, watching him run his hand over the hood, "Are you?" She looked back at him, her head still cocked to the side, "Cause I have some great ideas for the wedding!" She gave a nod, tapping her foot, another bad habit, "I promise you won't be disapointed!"
"I happen to be a lucky cricket," Lucy replied, raising an eyebrow again, "All I have to do is rub my legs together and you'll have some of my good luck," She shook her head playfully, "But, I'm not sure you've earned it yet," She gave a shrug, leaning up against his car slightly.

everything was all fun and games for keith at the moment, but the second when lucy said she didn't know if she could believe anything he said, he gasped. "now that..." he pointed a finger, smiling slightly. "..is so mean. i gave you no reason to not believe me. besides, i don't lie." he said honestly. "sneaky?" he repeated with a small chuckle. "maybe, not that you'll ever know. cause let's face it, i am as sneaky as a fox and as for the red light, maybe i did, maybe i didn't." he said mysteriously.
he smirked, but that image would be pretty frightening. he got a little self concious when she studied his face closely. keith was never comfortable with his appearance, so when people ever commented on it or took a closer look at his face, he got all nervous. he looked down, trying to advert her eyes. keith's eyes glanced up at her when she said 'aha!' he laughed at her comment and then subconciously touched his cheek. "damn! the doctor said no one would be able to tell, im so getting my money back." he joked. "sweet sixteen huh? cool."
"marry my car!" he exclaimed, surprise she'd say such a thing. he laughed and leaned back on the hood of his car, staring up at the sky with a smile on his face. then he sat back up and looked at her. "you see me as one of those guys huh? the ones who name their cars after girls and treat it better than some of the people in their life?" he asked, shaking his head. "of course i dont want to marry my car. it's junk! besides, it's a cheater, i saw it checking out a red mercedes as i drove here. naughty little thing." he said and kicked the front bumper.
keith stared at her, grinning insanely, his pearly whites flashing at her. "rub your legs together?" he said finally, hiding laughter. "that's unusual." he pointed out. "but i'd love some good luck, badly. so...rub your legs together." he demanded, still smiling. he frowned when she said she didn't think he had earned it. "what! oh, so not fair. well, how do i earn some? i'll do anything." he told her.

Lucy smirked as she listened to him talk about being sneaky and how he never lied. She hated to admit it but, she had to retort for that one so she simply shrugged and said, "Your not the only one who can be sneaky and mysterious," She hid behind her hand for a moment, "See? You can't see me!" She moved her hand back down to her waist. She was never afraid to be a dork in front of people, especially when she just met them.
"You gonna get your money back for your ass too?" Lucy asked, a smirk rising on her lips as well, "Cause honey, it's a little flat," She gave a shrug, "I'd sue him if I were you," Lucy rolled her eyes as herself, he was cute, yeah, maybe even hott, so she was slightly disgusted in herself when she said he was ugly. "Yup, I'm almost seventeen," She nodded, not afraid of sharing personal information with this guy, "January 15,"
"She looks like a Mary Sue," Lucy said, adverting her eyes away from Keith to look at the car. "Maybe even a Audrey. But I have to say," She said, playfully stroking her chin, "It's definitely a Mary Sue," She looked back up at him and grinned, "You gonna take her to court?"
"Anything?" Lucy asked, raising an eyebrow, "Well if you're up to hanging your own boxers from the flag pole," She gave a shrug, "Then go ahead. Who am I to stop you?" She decided to ignore his comment about her rubbing her legs together and giving him some luck...she wasn't a magician.

he wouldn't have been surprised if she came back at him with a snippy retort. after all, everyone lied didn't they? well, not keith. he preferred to be honest, no matter what the consequences were and if anyone ever came to keith to get and honest opinion, that's what they'd get, nothing sugar-coated. sure, it had its bad sides, but personally keith would rather be hurt by the truth than happy from a lie.
biting down on his bottom lip to hold back his wide smile, he watched as she demonstrated that she too was sneaky and mysterious. keith laughed and acted surprised when she put her hand over her face and claimed she was invisible. lucy was like a child, and he loved it, since keith was rather goofy himself. "wow! that was so cool! how'd you do it?" he asked her, pretending to be amazed in her awesome trick.
keith pouted and glanced down at his butt. he never heard anyone complain about it himself and quite frankly, he thought he had a nice butt, maybe it was a little on the flat side, after all, he was a thin boy, but it never bothered him much. "don't hate, appreciate." he responded lamely. "besides, why are you checking out my ass anyways?" he dared to ask her with a smirk implanted on his thin lips.
"mary sue! no way, my car is not a farmer girl. i'd so pick something more sexy and...rockstarish than mary sue." he told her with a laugh and then hopped off the hood and stood back to look at his car for a few moments before coming to a good conclusion. "nah, she's a mary sue. with the way she looks, that's the sexiest name she'll ever get." he said and sat back down on it. he shook his head, smiling. "nah...she'd kick my ass in court."
"that's all you give me?" he asked her, making sure. "WEAK!" he called out to her, basically saying her suggestion was lame and she so could have taken better advantage of the situation. "so, here i am thinking you'd give me an impossible task that would definately make me embarrass myself, but all you give me is to hang my boxers on the flag pole? i did that..in like, the fifth grade hon, so easy peasy lemon squeasy." he told her, laughing.
"so, you want to come join me on mary sue's hood and tell me...hmm, more about you? since all i know is that your name is lucy, you're sixteen, and you're birthdays on january 15. that's seriously not enough for me to right a biography on you." he joked. keith was really interested in hearing about her though since she seemed well...pretty awesome.

"It's easy!" Lucy replied, scoffing as she said it. "You see," She said, speaking a slower tone, "For us smart people. It's sooo simple," She explained, prolonging the word so. "But," She said, sticking her index finger, "For you 'slow' people, don't even get me started!" She finished, air quoting the word slow. She looked up at the sky and scoffed, but quickly looked back down at him, a soft smile on her face.
Lucy rolled her eyes as if it were obvious. "Your hott!" She said, speaking truthfully but tried to cover it up with laughter in her voice, "I think everyone looks at your ass," She nodded, crossing her arms across her chest again.
"You expect me to come up with an idea," Lucy snapped her fingers, mostly for effect, "Like that?" She uncrossed her arms and placed them on her hips, balancing her weight on one foot. "Well, hon, I'm not a machine!"
Lucy looked down at the ground before answering, "I'm not that interesting," She ran a hand through her hair, looking up at him again, though this time with a smile on her face, "And I don't think Mary Sue will be happy if a girl sits on her," She gave him a wider smile, "She might get jealous,"
[yeah. my first one was alot better...but you know what happened.]

"oh! it's easy now huh?" he said and smiled, waiting for her to explain herself. he cracked up as she started to speak slowly to him, as if he was an idiot. he listened to her, smiling the entire time but then pretended to look offended when she called him slow. "so what if i'm slow, i think that just makes me more special-er." he told her. "don't cha think?" he asked, grinning.
keith watched, confused as she rolled her eyes. he didn't know that it was obvious. he always thought he was okay looking, but hot? now let's be serious, there were definately hotter people in the world. he looked down, blushing, when she gave him her compliment. he rubbed his neck and laughed nervously. "well, thank you?" he said, unsure.
he stared at her, eyes wide. the finger snapping distracted him as if he was a child with add, but he smiled when she placed her hands on her hips. keith had to admit, lucy looked really cute in that stance. he shook his head, getting that thought out of his mind. "well, no. but you do have a brain, which is normally used for coming up with ideas..." he pointed out.
now keith rolled his eyes. "come on now, everyone is intersting. you're being modest and i won't stand it." he told her truthfully, smiling but then is tone softened. "i really want to hear about you lucy." he responded softly and then looked down when she said mary sue might not want a girl on her hood. "you could sit on my l-" he began, then stopped. "i don't think she'd mind..."

"Sure," Lucy nodded, her tone sounding as if she was unconvinced, "It makes you more special-er-er," She gave a defeated shrug with a sigh to match. "I'll agree to that," It was her turn to say something about her idiotocity and she knew it. "With me having an average brain," She looked down, kicking a rock, pretending to be hurt, "Can I still be special with you?" She asked, a fake hurt in her eyes.
Lucy gave a soft shrug, biting the inside of her lip, "Anytime sweet cheeks," She didn't know where that pet name came from but it amused her for a slight moment. She noticed him blush and she had to blush herself, he looked really cute when he blushed and she couldn't help herself.
"There's nothin' in there," Lucy replied, gently knocking on her head, as if to show him it was hollow. "You still expect me to come up with something?" She tilted her head, waiting for his reply.
Lucy blushed again. She was no idiot and she knew what he was going to say. She scratched the back of her head, hoisting herself up on the car, sitting next to him. "Well what do you want to know?" She asked, her hand in the space between them and the other resting on her thigh.

he pouted, not liking that she was unconvinced. then he smiled, when she admitted he was special. "yay!" he said and threw his arms up in the air, waving them from excitement. "lucy thinks im special. special. special." he sang out in a nice voice, though he'd never admit he'd have one. he stopped singing and then looked at her, she really pulled off fake saddness good. "of course you can. there is always more room for special people." he assured her.
raising a an eyebrow at her pet name for him, he still looked down. the name made him blush even more and he felt all tingly inside. his heart was racing, butterflies fluttered in his tummy, and he had to wipe his palms on his jeans because they became sweaty. god this girl knew how to make him blush insanely. his cheeks were still warm and he knew they were still colored red.
"yes, because if there was nothing in there you'd be stupid and i know that you're not." he told her honestly, although he didn't know her well, she seemed like a bright girl. stupid girls drove keith insane. he wasn't attracted to the ditzy girls. he wanted someone he could hold a conversation with. "but yes." he said and smiled. "i do expect you to come up with something because i am oh so special to the world and...to you." he teased and tapped her nose.
seeing her blush at his comment, made him blush because she knew what he was going to say. lucy didn't call him on it though, which made him feel slightly better about it. but he wondered if she would have sat on his lap. or maybe she would have objected because that was being too forward. keith sighed. now he'd never know. he looked over at her, happy she was sitting beside him now.
keith leaned back on his hands, one of them brushing hers as it glided past and he blushed once more, looking down. "sorry about that. my hand has a mind of its own." he joked a little, trying to make this obvious attraction to each other less awkward. he took a deep breath, hoping it would calm his nerves. "well, why don't you tell me what your interests are. yeah, cliche, i know. deal with it." he said and smiled shyly at her.
